I'm a mobile DJ and this crown amp is perfect for me. One of the issues of being a mobile DJ is lugging your equipment around. Not a backbreaker any more with this amp. I have the XLS1500 and it weighs less than 9 pounds. Not only that, the power is perfect for my set up. I'm using two 12" JBL's with a continuous rating of 500 @ 4ohms, and the peak meters on the amp don't even move when cranked up at a pretty good volume. If you're looking for power and wouldn't mind lightening up your load, this is the amp to go with.

I am happy to say this pushes my MTX tp2400's which consist of 4 12" woofers and 2 horn tweeters.They require 400 watts a side continous at 4 ohm. Little to No distotion :) The quality is great and the inputs are so flexible. I love the way I can patch them all together eliminating a mixer all together :) Highly recommended. They run so cool I cant even feel warmth. I dont know what that other guy is talking about, his was probably faulty or broken.

I bought this amp to drive my mid-range speakers in a 4-way PA (2 drivers per channel total 8 ohms, I did not use internal crossovers). On the bench the amp seemed to do the job, however out in the field the amp wimped out. As soon as the amp was powered up the temperature protection circuit tripped. The concert was an outdoor concert (5 days), and on the first day it was humid in the high 80's, and we could not get the amp to run for more than 5 seconds without a temp out. Even fans didn't help. Had to swap out to the Crown for a QSC that we were using for our stage monitors in order to get the mains going. We did not have a single problem with any other amps temping out. This amp is pretty lightweight, and I am guessing that the heat sinks are too small. You really need to consider your environment before you buy this one.
